According to the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH), "Healthcare Simulation Week celebrates global professionals…who use simulation to improve the safety, effectiveness, and efficiency of healthcare delivery."

"Simulation-based learning saves lives by improving patient outcomes," President and Founder Anthony Battaglia, MS, BSN, RN. "Without simulated learning, new doctors, nurses and allied health professionals cannot be expected to deliver quality health care."

Pocket Nurse visited several simulation labs in the region including the Community College of Allegheny County; WISER at University of Pittsburgh; West Virginia Northern Community College; Franciscan University of Steubenville; La Roche University and Carlow University.

"Simulation instruction isn't easy," said Pocket Nurse Corporate Nurse Educator Beth Telesz. "Instructors need to know the course materials, use the technology effectively and record student progress simultaneously."

SSH encourages participation in Healthcare Simulation Week by providing materials and a schedule of events at ssih.org.
