As part of its efforts, the CUSM School of Medicine is implementing a unique and innovative curriculum that focuses on the integration of clinical medicine from Day 1 of a student's journey. In order to effectively manage and deliver this curriculum, as well as analyze its results, CUSM sought out a software platform that could provide this kind of insight, but would also be simple, intuitive, and fully mobile for the needs of a modern medical school.

Knowing that the software platform they selected would play a major role in their accreditation efforts, CUSM began their search years beforehand for a vendor that could not only deliver such a platform, but that could work side by side and be flexible when it came to implementing their unique curriculum.

After an exhaustive search and multiple presentations, CUSM selected a young company called Medtrics Lab, founded in 2014 by healthcare professionals to develop and support innovative software for managing medical and clinical education.

Since 2016, the CUSM School of Medicine and the dedicated team at Medtrics Lab have been working together on mapping CUSM's curriculum to their M.D. programs objectives and identifying the most effective methods to collect information about the student's performance and clinical competence.

"Being able to map the curricular content to outcomes at varying levels of detail with Medtrics allows us to monitor and improve the quality of the curriculum. With the ability to map the curriculum and evaluate student skills in Medtrics, we will be able to link (and track) student performance not only to outcomes but also to curricular content and teaching," says Raj Ettarh, MD Ph.D. FRSM FAS, Associate Dean of Pre-Clerkship Curriculum & Assessment.

The team at CUSM School of Medicine and Medtrics Lab continue to work together closely in the final weeks of preparation before students arrive in July 2018.
