COVID-19 Crisis Forces Postponement of Métis National Council General Assembly

OTTAWA, March 27, 2020 /CNW/ - Given the danger and practical impossibility of convening meetings during the COVID-19 crisis, Métis National Council (MNC) President Clément Chartier today informed Members of the MNC General Assembly that the MNC General Assembly anticipated for the end of April, 2020 will be postponed. An alternative date will be set once the health emergency is lifted.

The MNC represents the Métis Nation in Canada at the national and international levels. The Métis Nation's homeland includes the 3 Prairie Provinces and extends into the contiguous parts of British Columbia, Ontario, the Northwest Territories and the United States. There are approximately 400,000 Métis Nation citizens in Canada, roughly a quarter of all Aboriginal peoples in the country.
