This year's Leading By Example Award Recipient is Dr. Raymond Schinazi, Egyptian-born Scientist who discovered the cure for Hepatitis C. Contributing to the greater good, Dr. Schinazi shared the formula for Solvadi, the life-saving treatment, with Egypt at 1% of the cost. "His willingness to take a leap of faith as a scientist meant the difference between life and death for millions of Egyptians. It was an incredible act of faith and generosity that reaped a great award for humanity. And that's what we mean when we refer to the Good and Faithful Servant," said Nermien Riad, Executive Director and Founder of Coptic Orphans.

Introducing Dr. Schinazi will be Dr. Andrew Abraham, Founder of Orgain and one of the most distinguished Coptic physicians in the country. When Dr. Andrew Abraham was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 17, one of the biggest challenges he encountered was maintaining a nutritional regime that would support his remission. Dr. Abraham made it his mission to develop the perfect formulation that would later become Orgain®, a drink that has brought optimum health and well-being to millions of people.

At this year's gala, Coptic Orphans will celebrate the contributions of these remarkable individuals and also highlight the work of changemakers in Egypt. Coptic Orphans is grateful to the Coptic Diaspora for their support of our mission. Whether our supporters give of their time or treasure, their commitment to helping the children of Egypt is an inspiration for us all.

We welcome Press/Media to attend and report on Coptic Orphans' work in development, particularly in Egypt, as well as issues related to religious tolerance and gender equity.
