New Offering Reinforces Commitment to Safety in Trucking Industry

MADISON, Wis., May 1, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Fleetworthy's mission to help motor carriers surpass DOT regulatory

requirements received a major boost today with the announcement of their new Sleep Apnea Management offering.

The comprehensive managed service handles driver screening, sleep diagnosis, education and training, equipment provisioning, document tracking, and ongoing usage monitoring – everything a fleet needs to test and treat at-risk drivers for sleep apnea.

Sleep apnea is a serious disorder affecting roughly 20 million Americans where a person temporarily stops breathing resulting in health problems and low-quality sleeping. Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is the most common form of sleep apnea for truck drivers which is caused by partial or complete blockage of the airway passage.

"Fleetworthy's Sleep Apnea Management service is the perfect option for carriers looking to improve driver safety, health, and retention. We developed our program to save lives and bring treated drivers safely back to work 5x faster than today." – Tom Bowe, VP of Products at Fleetworthy Solutions

Many large-truck crashes have been directly attributed to obstructive sleep apnea. According to Harvard University's Graduate School of Public Health, untreated drivers with OSA have a 500% higher risk of crashing than truckers without the sleep disorder.

Currently the DOT does not require sleep apnea screening since the Trump administration cancelled the proposed requirement as part of a larger effort to reduce transportation regulations. Nevertheless, many leading carriers are moving forward with their own OSA safety initiatives.

"Fleetworthy Solutions dedication to motor carrier safety made it impossible for us to ignore that 1 in 4 drivers likely have sleep apnea. We are fulfilling an obligation to our customers and demonstrating our commitment to the trucking industry by providing a turn-key Sleep Apnea Management service." - Michael Precia, CEO, Fleetworthy Solutions

Safety Directors and Fleet Managers cannot ignore the serious dangers of letting sleep apnea go undiagnosed and untreated in the roster of their drivers. Not only can it be harmful to their health, it poses serious liability and risk to the fleet should a driver be involved in a DOT-reportable crash and have 'Driver Fatigue' be a determinant in the cause. Fleetworthy Solutions is going above and beyond to make it easy to get access to and manage sleep apnea treatment for their drivers.

Sleep Apnea Management will be available to fleets in the commercial motor carrier industry starting immediately. Pricing and details can be requested online, over the phone, or by sending an email to info(at)fleetworthy.com. Customers can reach out to their Account Managers to request more information, availability, and current pricing.
