SAN DIEGO, May 3, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Prime Harvest, LLC, a science-driven, vertically integrated cannabis company
"Cannabis Therapy for Opioid Addiction" will take place from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at San Diego State University's Montezuma Hall in San Diego, California, and is free of charge and open to the public. Expert speakers this year will include Dr. Sherry Yafai, a classically trained emergency medicine physician; Dr. Mark Wallace, program director of UC San Diego Health's Center for Pain Medicine and a board-certified anesthesiologist; Mitzi Mackenzie, MSW, LCSW, an adolescent and family therapist; and Anthony M. Bettencourt, senior associate attorney at the Law Offices of Michael E. Cindrich, APC.
New studies in the journal JAMA Internal Medicine reveal that people in states with medical and legal cannabis laws are easing their use of opioids. According to the findings in JAMA, more people are avoiding use of dangerous addictive drugs and instead turning to cannabis as a way to treat pain. The results found that states with medical cannabis laws had 2.21 million fewer daily doses of opioids prescribed per year, compared with those states without cannabis programs.
"We are proud to support bringing together the leading experts on cannabinoid therapy as an alternative to opioids and other dangerous prescriptions to engage with and educate our local community members on this very important subject," said E. Duane Alexander, CEO and Founder of Prime Harvest, LLC. "We strategically partner with the Community Alliance Program to improve lives by meeting our communities' most critical needs and investing in cannabinoid research and education programs."
