New studies in the journal JAMA Internal Medicine reveal that people in states with medical and legal cannabis laws are easing their use of opioids. According to the findings in JAMA, more people are avoiding use of dangerous addictive drugs and instead turning to cannabis as a way to treat pain. The results found that states with medical cannabis laws had 2.21 million fewer daily doses of opioids prescribed per year, compared with those states without cannabis programs.
