The online bachelor's program has been approved by the Higher Learning Commission and will allow nurses to go from a Nursing Licensure (RN) into a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). This RN to BSN program will be hosted within OnSomble's core platform, OnRole™, which applies adaptive algorithms to discern competency levels that generate individualized development analytics.

"The OnRole adaptive learning algorithm allows our faculty to customize curriculum to each student's individual needs. Through an assessment of nine key competencies that represent the curricular strengths of our nursing program, students will take a pre-assessment to establish a baseline," stated Dr. Jeff McCormack, Dean of the College of Natural and Health Sciences at Oklahoma Christian University. "The OnRole adaptive learning platform will facilitate customized curriculum according to individual gaps in key areas of learning, allowing the student to complete a degree more quickly, saving both time and money. We are excited to offer this robust competency-based program to RNs on their journey to BSN."

Competency-based programs are founded on an approach that allows students to advance based on their ability to master a skill or competency, fully online and at their own pace. This new RN to BSN program is integrated with Oklahoma Christian's key competencies, while OnRole's algorithms allow the curriculum to be customized to each student's individual needs, prescribing areas for improvement through deeper study. CBE programs create efficiencies in teaching by augmenting online learning with on-demand guidance from faculty mentors. Adaptive learning allows teachers to use data to identify the areas that students need the most support and in turn, students can reach out to instructors when they require hands-on learning. The OnRole platform fosters total engagement with the curriculum and with faculty, who can help the students to synthesize knowledge with application.

"Many RNs desire to earn their BSN but often have difficulty finding the right program that provides the highest return on their time investment, while also taking into consideration the valuable experience and skills they have learned over the years as a clinician. This program provides an efficient and effective way to address such need," stated Enderson Miranda, CEO of OnSomble. "We are honored that Oklahoma Christian has chosen our OnRole™ Platform to host their robust RN to BSN Competency-Based program."

About Oklahoma Christian University

Oklahoma Christian (OC) is located 10 minutes from downtown Oklahoma City. OC students have many ways to plug into other countries and cultures. OC's global reach includes 20 study abroad and off-campus learning options, plus service opportunities that take students around the world to help people in need. One such program is the CBE program for RN to BSN. CBE allows students to move forward in their coursework by demonstrating concrete abilities, proving that they have mastered the knowledge and skills required for a particular course. The model is student-centered and can recognize prior education that may have been gained outside of formal instruction, regardless of where, when, and how that learning took place. Instead of assigning letter grades based on performance, CBE shifts traditional academia to emphasize frequent, meaningful feedback that empowers people to take more responsibility for learning.
