SALT LAKE CITY, Nov. 2, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- O2TODAY, the Salt Lake City, UT based
O2TODAY's mission is to create a health movement to educate the public about the impacts of poor air quality, from pollution and airborne pathogens, to dramatically shift behavior to wearing protective masks during times of exposure to harmful air, which is more common than most realize.
Statistical data shows that we are on the wrong side of breathing healthy air: Air pollution is no longer only an issue in Asian metropolitan areas; in the US ambient air pollution causes 200,000 early deaths per year. The people of the American West are expected to endure more large, destructive wildfires in the future and likely have to deal with extended periods of intense wildfire smoke. Over 4 Billion travelers flying in close passenger proximity each year are increasing the risk of airborne transmission of cold, flu, and other viruses. Last year was a record breaking flu season that killed over 80,000 people according to the CDC and cost US businesses over $20 billion in lost productivity.
Founder and CEO, Bruce Lorange, says, "We have spent the last 3 years developing a system that employs the latest filter technology and design elements that make for a simple to use, elegant lifestyle accessory for your health. Similar to fitness trackers, and carrying water bottles around for better hydration, carrying an O2SafeAir mask is something we encourage as a health practice whether you are a city commuter, air traveler, or need protection from allergies, mold spores, or wildfire smoke. This is as much a public health movement as it is a product innovation effort."
The new mask design is based on user feedback and has been crafted with Material Scientists, Engineers, and Environmental Health Advisors to create a three step system to customizable healthy breathing.
Designed by Co-Founder and creative force, Marcel Wanders, the new mask focuses on a proprietary mesh shell that is highly breathable, machine washable, and comes equipped with interchangeable filters for protection against both pollution and microorganisms, as well as the option of essential oil mists to add a personalized scent.
"O2SafeAir allows individuals to breathe cleaner air while wearing a beautiful lifestyle accessory. Our mask is a simple yet important innovation that will help thousands of people around the world.", remarks Wanders
Former Senior Postdoctoral Associate at the MIT nanofiltration laboratory, Dr. Chattopadhyay, says, "This unique mask system has proven filtration to meet both the NIOSH N95 standard for personal protection as well as ASTM standard for medical grade performance while maintaining a remarkably low inhalation resistance. This will also cater personal protection needs to children, older adults and people with lung disease."
O2TODAY is launching their second-generation mask through Indiegogo to engage a larger community to help not only bring their masks to market, but to create a groundswell movement of better health through clean breathing. The campaign will also feature a limited edition mask in collaboration with Love To Breathe®, which was established in 2001 to give hope and positive energy to the Cystic Fibrosis community, especially to families with newly diagnosed children. 20% of the proceeds from each pre-order will be donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation where ninety cents of every dollar funds research towards finding a cure.
The Indiegogo campaign will run from November 1st for 30 days and can be found here: https://igg.me/at/o2safeair Additional Information about O2TODAY can be found on their website and facebook pages here: http://www.o2today.com https://www.facebook.com/O2TODAY/
