Following years of concessionary contracts with their former employer, fiscally troubled Forum Health, registered nurse Eric Williams reports, "We are optimistic to be negotiating with a strong, financially viable employer this time around." Williams is President of Youngstown General Duty Nurses Association (YGDNA), the Ohio Nurses Association local representing the registered nurses at Community Health Systems' Northside Medical Center.

The strong and financially viable CHS purchased Northside Medical Center, Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital, and Trumbull Memorial Hospital to create ValleyCare Health System of Ohio. Along with the ValleyCare facilities, CHS owns, operates, or leases more than 134 hospitals in 29 states, according to the company's website. CHS reported a Net Revenue of $13.6 billion in 2011 and benefits from continued growth and success.
The registered nurse members of YGDNA believe that a successful contract must meet the needs of all involved parties. YGDNA nurses continue to advocate for safe staffing, a safe work environment, quality patient care, and economic and general welfare enhancements commensurate with the values of its registered nurses.
