The Early Interventions Resource Center provides information on lung cancer risk, early detection, surgical treatments and upcoming research.

"We are excited about this new patient support initiative that will provide a more thorough understanding and discussion on lung cancer at its earliest, most curable stage," said Laurie Fenton Ambrose, LCA President and CEO. "This is about empowering those at risk and those diagnosed at early stages with information about the resources and options available for them today."

Located on LCA's comprehensive and award winning Web site at www.lungcanceralliance.org/eirc/, the Early Interventions Resource Center addresses risks, testing methods and treatment options, providing detailed answers to three fundamental questions:

"People are afraid of lung cancer and sometimes their fear keeps them from getting screened," said Dr. Thomas D'Amico of Duke University's Comprehensive Cancer Center. "LCA's Early Interventions Resource Center presents the facts in a straightforward way and reinforces that the outcomes with lung cancer are much better when it is caught early. I intend to use this resource to supplement my discussions with patients on the risks, testing and treatment of this lethal disease."

The Resource Center's launch coincides with the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) 13th Annual World Conference currently taking place in San Francisco and is supported in part by Covidien (www.covidien.com).

Lung Cancer Alliance (www.LungCancerAlliance.org) is the only national non-profit organization dedicated exclusively to patient support and advocacy for those living with or at risk for lung cancer. Lung Cancer Alliance is committed to leading the movement to reverse decades of stigma and neglect by empowering those with or at risk for the disease, elevating awareness and changing health policy.
