Boston IVF The Maine Center will offer the full range of infertility and reproductive health services for both men and women experiencing trouble getting pregnant, from simple drug therapies to the advanced Assisted Reproductive Technologies, including in vitro fertilization (IVF), male infertility services and preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD), a screening procedure to identify embryos at risk for certain diseases.

In addition to the new full-service infertility treatment center in Portland, Boston IVF infertility specialists, Dr. Alper, Alan Penzias, M.D., Surgical Director at Boston IVF, and Robert Sasso, M.D., will continue to see patients in Bangor, Scarborough and Lewiston.

Dr. Alper, Medical Director, co-founded Boston IVF in 1986 and is Board Certified in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He fulfilled his residency at Harvard Medical School and Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston, where he also completed his fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. Dr. Alper is an Associate Clinical Professor at Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Penzias, Surgical Director at Boston IVF, is Board Certified in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He completed his residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital/ Harvard Medical School and his fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Yale University School of Medicine. Dr. Penzias is an Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School. His book, "The Boston IVF Handbook of Infertility," co-authored with Dr. Alper and Steven Bayer, M.D., has been labeled as "the premier resource" in the field.

Dr. Sasso received his medical degree at the Duke University School of Medicine, and completed his residency at the University of Utah Medical Center and his fellowship at the Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach. Dr. Sasso is a member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine and the Society of Reproductive Surgeons in New England.
