TORONTO, Jan. 4, 2018 /CNW/ - Bridgeable, a global leader in service design, is proud to announce the creation of the BridgeableService Design Scholarship at the Rotman School of Management. This scholarship is the first of its kind, and recognizes students with interest and potential in the field of service design. With Rotman's matching program, $20,000
The scholarship advances Bridgeable's leadership in the field of service design globally, something Chris Ferguson, founder and CEO, is extremely passionate about. Mr. Ferguson is a founding member of the Canadian chapter of the Service Design Network and teaches Business Design at the Rotman School of Management. He has seen firsthand how design methodologies can benefit students of the MBA program, saying: "Services form the foundation of our economy and public sector. The emerging field of service design is becoming a go-to approach for understanding and delivering value to customers while managing the needs of employees and the organization. Service design's unique approach to generating shared-value is essential in an increasingly complex and digitally-enabled economy. Within 10 years, design will be as essential to management education as finance or marketing."
The first scholarship will be awarded in 2018.
What is Service Design?Service design is a discipline that allows organizations to understand where, when and how their services may be improved to deliver shared value for themselves and their end users. This can be done for an existing service, or it can be used to imagine and shape a future service or experience.
Service design takes a human-centred approach to design, recognizing that effective service solutions require a holistic understanding of people's current and unmet needs.
Service designers work with multiple, diverse stakeholders to co-create the design of service solutions, leveraging collaboration to translate needs, pain points, and opportunities into actionable ideas for services and experiences.
The service design process engages in cycles of prototyping and iteration, continuously building and testing to get to a solution that will deliver higher impact, while minimizing risk.
Service design allows organizations to design and embed the systems and solutions and organizational strategies necessary to repeatedly deliver a valuable service to their users while also keeping business realities in mind.
