TULSA, Okla., March 12, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Verinovum, a health data enrichment and integration technology company, announced today the appointment of Art Wilmes, former practicing actuary and respected healthcare consultant with more than 35 years' experience in the industry, as an advisor to its board of directors.

"Art has spent his career evaluating claims, clinical, and social data. Art's focus on putting healthcare data to use in improving the quality and reducing the cost of care has been a lifelong passion," says Mark McCurry, CEO of Verinovum. "His insight into how to turn accurate, actionable data into quality care delivery is wholly in sync with Verinovum's mission, and his guidance will be invaluable as we continue to grow."

Art's recent area of focus is how analytics can be used to make healthcare delivery more efficient.

"Clean data is a myth. Data curation is not a commodity. Data drives the analytics necessary to guide action. Poor data quality is rampant in today's healthcare world due to multiple disparate systems, files and formats all needing to be tied together to make strategic business decisions. Analytics applied to flawed data will be flawed and, in some cases, dangerously misleading," says Wilmes. "That's why I'm excited about Verinovum's technology; it curates and enriches data to provide a clinical record more complete than any other solution I've encountered in the industry. It truly represents a quantum leap in clinical data extraction and aggregation."

Art is a retired Principal with the Indianapolis office of Milliman. He joined the firm in 1980 and was a Principal in and founder of the Indianapolis Health and Pharmaceutical Management Consulting Practice, which he created in 2007. He also developed Milliman's Patient Risk Management (PRM) solution, a first-in-class predictive analytic solution focused on potentially avoidable healthcare expenses in chronically ill patients. Art spent his entire career with Milliman, and retired December 31, 2017 to pursue new professional and motor sports activities.

Art's research into advanced analytics of market, clinical, and actuarial data puts him in demand for clients interested in how the changing healthcare landscape may affect them and their business, with a focus on how business operations can be better managed through advanced analytics and operational optimization. He received a BA in Actuarial Science from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.
