"I thank the Academy of Holistic Theology & Spirituality for the honor they have bestowed on me. I was gratified to know the contribution we have made has been found worthy of such a distinction," said Hall.

The Academy of Holistic Theology & Spirituality is the product of several years of collaboration and research, which examined the trends in faith formation. It's their intention to help leaders, who are seeking advanced religious and spiritual training, to support the spiritual needs of the changing populations within their congregations, organizations, and communities.

"We were honored to be a part of Eric's very special day. We felt it a privilege to spend this time with Eric and all of the others honored at the Gala. What a beautiful and momentous evening to be a part of. The Spiritual Care Association, through Eric's leadership, and the Academy both are organizations committed to the highest of standards and quality in patient spiritual care," said the Rev. Dr. William R. Greaver III, Psy.D, Professor & Chancellor at the Academy of Holistic Theology & Spirituality. "We believe that Eric was very deserving of his Doctor of Theology degree in Chaplaincy, and were very happy to honor him with this distinguished degree."

Hall became the CEO of HCCN five years ago. In those years, he completely revamped not only the direction of the organization but also changed the direction of the entire field of spiritual care at a national level. In 2016, he launched the Spiritual Care Association (SCA), the first multi-disciplinary international professional membership association for spiritual care providers. SCA has transformed what it means to be a chaplain today.

Hall also serves as the minister of Eastchester Community Church in Eastchester, N.Y., a position he has held since 2002. He is managing partner of ACS (Alzheimer's Care Specialists) LLC, a New York-licensed home care services agency servicing Nassau, Suffolk, Queens and Westchester counties.
