HOUSTON, May 24, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- DHS Group is excited to announce the launch of the Patriot Steps Challenge in conjunction with the SEAL Legacy Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to supporting families of wounded and fallen Navy SEALs, providing educational assistance and more. The Patriot Steps Challenge enables people, no matter their location, to log steps and raise money for a cause they care about through the Move module, a component of DHS's Healthspective system that helps motivate group members to become engaged in managing their health.

"Helping groups elevate their health through Move is something we're passionate about," DHS Group CEO Jim Pritchett said. "With the rise of great events to raise money for non-profits, it was a logical next step to use our software to help non-profits raise funds through virtual races, allowing people anywhere to participate and compete. We're thrilled about this inaugural program with the SEAL Legacy Foundation and are looking forward to seeing the program help more in the future."

Beginning on Memorial Day, participants will be tasked with meeting the Challenge goal of logging 400,000 steps before Independence Day – the average number of steps a SEAL logs during "Hell Week" training. Every participant who reaches the goal will be given a SEAL Legacy Challenge wristband and those who reach 80,000 steps in one week will be entered into a second drawing for a band, enabling people to join anytime during the 35-day event.

"As an organization, our commitment is that no one is left behind," said SEAL Legacy Foundation Managing Director Mark McGinnis. "We are truly appreciative of our friends at DHS for helping us continue our support of Navy SEALs and their families through the inaugural Patriot Steps Challenge."

Registration for the Patriot Steps Challenge is now open at www.patriotsteps.com.

Participation is open to most popular fitness trackers and costs $30, benefitting the SEAL Legacy Foundation. Throughout the Challenge, participants are invited to share their Patriot Steps Challenge experiences and photos on social media, using #patriotsteps.
