Nystagmus is a rare and incurable eye condition characterized by rapid, uncontrollable eye movements that blur vision. Although the condition cannot be cured, its effects can be moderated.

As a symposium director, Richard Hertle, MD, director of Akron Children's Vision Center, will offer his expertise as a leading investigator in the area of nystagmus and eye movement disorders. Dr. Hertle is one of the only pediatric ophthalmologists in the country who performs complete evaluations and targeted surgical treatments of nystagmus, a systematic approach he helped develop that can improve infantile nystagmus.

GlobalCastMD was founded in 2009 by Todd Ponsky, MD, a pediatric surgeon at Akron Children's Hospital, to provide a virtual platform for medical professionals around the world to attend educational symposia from their home or office.

Dr. Ponsky will serve as a symposium director along with Dr. Hertle and Louis Dell'Osso, PhD, director of the Daroff-Dell'Osso Ocular Motility Laboratory at the Cleveland Veterans Affairs Medical Center. With the added expertise of a distinguished and diverse faculty, the symposium will address nystagmus with case presentations and interactive panel discussions featuring live text chat and phone-in question/answer throughout the webcast.
