SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 12, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Joyable, the most effective and affordable online solution for managing anxiety and depression, announced today that it has released its program to help people suffering from depression to the consumer market. The program, previously only available to the company's employer and health plan partners, combines cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) based online activities with proactive outreach and support from a coach and allows users to get instant, in-the-moment help with their depression as they are experiencing it.

"In our mission to help as many people as possible with their mental health needs, we are eager to provide our depression program to the public," said Peter Shalek, Joyable founder and CEO. "One in five Americans suffer from anxiety and depression. It keeps people from living their best lives whether that's advancing in their career, strengthening their relationships, being healthier or simply enjoying day to day life more. We are proud to make our depression program available to the public as we aim to make it easier for more people to get more affordable help that actually works."

Founded in 2013, Joyable began by helping people overcome social anxiety using an online CBT-based program where users complete interactive activities that are scientifically proven to help them overcome social anxiety. The company has since reached over 500,000 people and has brought that same science to its depression program. Joyable also offers programs for generalized anxiety and stress management which are currently available to the company's employer and health plan partners.

In June 2017, outcomes from Joyable's social anxiety program were published in the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology in a study lead by M. Taylor Dryman, Lisa M. McTeague, Thomas M. Olino, and Richard G. Heimberg which found that client outcomes from Joyable's social anxiety program are equal to or exceed client outcomes from in-person cognitive behavioral therapy.
