PORTLAND, Ore., Sept. 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- WebMD Health Services, which provides customizable wellness programs for employers and health plans, has achieved unanimous Health Web Site 3.0 Accreditation from URAC, an independent, non-profit health care accrediting organization dedicated to promoting health care quality through accreditation, education, and measurement. WebMD Health Services is a subsidiary of WebMD.

WebMD Health Services' online platform received scores of 100% in each of the categories that URAC evaluates, and as a result, received full URAC accreditation, effective through July 1, 2018. WebMD Health Services' wellness programs are only available to employees of the company's employer and health plan customer participants. Separately, WebMD.com, the company's public website, also received full URAC accreditation.

The URAC accreditation process demonstrates a commitment to quality services and serves as a framework to improve business processes through benchmarking organizations against nationally recognized standards.

"WebMD Health Services should be commended for meeting strict quality standards," said URAC President and CEO Kylanne Green. "It is critically important for health care organizations to make a commitment to quality and accountability. URAC accreditation is a demonstration of that commitment."

URAC's Health Web Site Accreditation program provides meaningful feedback to health website owners on how to improve the quality of operations, including privacy and security, health content editorial processes, disclosure of financial relationships, linking policies, and emerging best practice.

"We see this important accreditation as recognition of our commitment to helping our customers build a culture of wellness that sustains meaningful change in the lives of employees and health plan participants," said Ben Slocum, CEO, WebMD Health Services. "Our adherence to these strict standards further demonstrates our commitment to the individuals working towards their health and wellness goals."
