tw telecom is delivering a 1 Gbps network transmission capacity betweenVirtual Radiologic's data centers, a 1 Gbps Native LAN solution for thetransmission of radiological data from its clients, as well as a 1 Gbpsconnection for remote administration purposes at the company's Minneapolisheadquarters. Additionally, Virtual Radiologic deployed two separate 100 MbpsEthernet Internet Services (EIS) circuits and metro Ethernet services tosupport its business activities. tw telecom also supports the company'sfax-intensive services with the installation of PRI voice circuits, which iscritical, as the company transmits more than 15,000 radiological reports viafax in each 24 hour period, to attending physicians.
"They laid out a road map that no one else did," said Lease. "We hadestablished a set of requirements for this project and tw telecom ended up atthe top of the list. Their network is both functional and cost-effective."As further evidence, tw telecom has been tapped to help Virtual Radiologicmove to its new headquarters in early 2009.
Virtual Radiologic's data-intensive business and strict compliancerequirements for HIPAA, Sarbanes/Oxley and the Joint Hospital Commissionrequire the company to maintain its records and preserve operations throughits data center operations. To aid in protecting and preserving this data,Virtual Radiologic is utilizing 1,000 square feet of collocation space and aspecially designed 200 square foot remote BCDR operation office at twtelecom's facility to support this operations in the event of a disaster orother outage.
