"Cardiovascular disease is America's number one killer, and is the leading cause of death for older people," says Michael A. Muchnicki, President and Chief Executive Officer of Touchstone Health. "As a healthcare company dedicated to serving Medicare beneficiaries, we decided to take the lead in raising awareness and empowering seniors in our community in the fight against this deadly disease. Our partnership with the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association gives us the chance to make a difference on a local scale."

Founded in 1924, the American Heart Association is the nation's oldest and largest voluntary health organization dedicated to reducing disability and death from diseases of the heart and stroke. Through its national, regional and local efforts, in partnership with millions of volunteers and donors across the country, the association has helped save countless lives and helped improve the quality life of individuals living with heart disease and stroke.

"The American Heart Association and American Stroke Association are excited to work with Touchstone Health as we continue to raise awareness of the risk factors and that immediate action during a stroke is necessary," says Dr. Richard Hodosh, President of the Board of Directors for the New York City Division of the American Heart Association. "Together we can continue to share the message that everyone must know their risks, recognize the symptoms of a stroke, call 911 and seek the treatment that is available."
