Thoratec Announces Early Termination of HSR Waiting Period for the Sale of ITC to Danaher Corporation

PLEASANTON, Calif., May 18 Thoratec Corporation (Nasdaq: THOR), a world leader in device-based mechanical circulatory support therapies to save, support and restore failing hearts, said today that the Federal Trade Commission has granted early termination of the waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976, as amended, for the previously announced sale of International Technidyne Corporation (ITC) to Danaher Corporation (NYSE: DHR). The closing of the transaction remains subject to certain other customary conditions to closing as well as approval from the Austrian regulatory authorities. Thoratec continues to expect that the transaction will close during the second quarter of 2010.
