"I have a special relationship with Partners Continuing Care, having been a patient at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital myself once. Seeing the great people who work there and the amazing things they do to help patients is inspiring," said Tedy Bruschi. "To be able to now serve as a voice and advocate for people facing difficult times like I once did, is truly an honor for me."

On February 15, 2005, just days after his first Pro Bowl and third Super Bowl win, Tedy Bruschi suffered a stroke. Spaulding therapists worked with Tedy for all his rehabilitative care, and just eight months later he became the first player in NFL history to return to the field after a stroke. From the new perspective of a patient, Tedy learned a great deal about the disease of stroke as well as the vital need for rehabilitative medicine. Since that time Tedy and his family have become increasingly involved with Spaulding and Partners Continuing Care, including hosting his annual "Tee off with Tedy" Golf Tournament each June, which has raised over a million dollars in its seven year history for Spaulding's programs and research.

"To have someone of Tedy Bruschi's character and background now serve on our board is an honor. Not only is he legendary for his heroics on the football field, but he is also an inspiration to thousands because of his dynamic recovery and his courage to share his story. I look forward to his input and expertise as we look towards the future of our organization," said David E. Storto, President of Partners Continuing Care.
