Symposium on U.S. - China Life Science Collaborations June 22 at Yale

NEW HAVEN, Conn., June 8 Experts from the China life science industry will meet with U.S. biotech and pharma executives June 22 for an all-day symposium at Yale University. It is the first meeting of its kind, designed to introduce U.S. businessmen to the opportunities afforded for research and development and commercialization partnering in China.

China's pharmaceutical market is expected to continue to grow at a 20+% pace annually (vs. global growth at 4-7%), and contribute 21% of overall global growth through 2013, according to IMS Health. The market research firm predicts China will become the world's third-largest prescription drug market in 2011.

Speakers at the June 22 event include leaders from the China National Center for Biotechnology Development, representatives from two Chinese bioscience parks and China's leading CRO, and the CEO of the largest vaccine company in China, as well as executives from Chinese biotech and pharma companies. Leaders from Connecticut and Yale University will also speak.

In addition to providing networking opportunities, the meeting will include an overview of the Chinese biotech and vaccine industries, an introduction to Chinese bioscience parks, and case studies and other reports on collaborations between American and Chinese business and academic organizations.
