McEnery's dog Jinger made it difficult to buy commercial dog food due tocorn allergies. When her neighbor lost her pets to tainted dog food, McEnerydecided she would do much better if she made the dog food at home. She couldguarantee that her pet would not eat foods she was allergic to and she knewthat it was safe.

Armed with the information of what her pets could not have she created 11recipes and two treat recipes for her pets to enjoy. Giving her peace ofmind, after a visit to the vet's office she discovered her pets' overallhealth had improved. She never bought commercial dog food again. Her dog'sallergies, weight and digestive problems were resolved. She discovered thatshe spent less on dog food, and "Home Cookin' for Dogs!" was born.
