CAMP HILL, Pa., Dec. 2 While many adults may be feeling the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, children quickly remind us of the magic of the holiday and the excitement of receiving that very special gift during the holidays. For the 21(st) year, Highmark employees have once again come together to provide holiday gifts to more than 1,200 underprivileged children in Central Pennsylvania.

The employees, or "Secret Santas," from the Camp Hill office are working with Children and Youth Services of Cumberland, Dauphin, Lycoming and Perry counties and the YMCA of Greater Harrisburg in order to provide presents to our local children in need.

"Our goal is to make sure that the children in our community do not miss out on the joys of the holiday season," said Susan Hubley, director of community affairs for Highmark Blue Shield. "We are particularly grateful to our employees who support the Secret Santa program each year, especially during these tough economic times. No matter what, our employees are more than gracious and willing to participate in this gift giving project each year."

The Secret Santa program has also inspired even more holiday cheer throughout Highmark's service region. In Highmark's Lehigh Valley office, employees are participating in the Holiday Hope Chests program, a national project adopted by the Volunteer Center of the Lehigh Valley, which helps less-fortunate children living in the Lehigh Valley. The Holiday Hope Chests are shoeboxes wrapped in holiday paper that are filled with items like crayons, stickers, flash cards, hats, gloves, jewelry, make-up, books, travel games, etc.

In addition, Highmark senior markets departments in the Camp Hill, Pittsburgh and Parkersburg, WV offices are partnering with agencies in Pennsylvania and West Virginia for the Presents for Seniors project. Employees are collecting 450 gifts and will provide them to seniors who live alone. Partnering agencies include the Dauphin County Department of Aging, LifeSpan, Eastern Area on Aging, the East End Cooperative and Lutheran Services and the Salvation Army Meals on Wheels program.
