CARROLLTON, Ga., Dec. 14 Greenway Medical Technologies, Inc. today announced that its flagship integrated EHR, PrimeSuite(®) 2011, is a pre-market conditionally CCHIT Certified(®) 2011 Ambulatory EHR, additionally certified for Child Health and Cardiovascular Medicine, with optional Advanced Reporting. Greenway's PrimeSuite 2011 achieved the higher level of two new 2011 certification designations offered by the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT(®)).

The CCHIT Certified 2011 Comprehensive program is differentiated from the Preliminary ARRA program by providing a rigorous, multi-faceted evaluation of integrated EHR functionality, interoperability and security. In addition, the products that achieve the Comprehensive level must also meet or exceed applicable proposed federal standards as they exist on the date of certification for certified EHR technology to support the 2011-2012 incentives under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). During the Comprehensive certification inspection, Greenway's PrimeSuite 2011 met or exceeded proposed federal interoperability, privacy and security standards which support achievement of meaningful use.

Greenway's 5-star usability rating is also the highest achievable designation within Comprehensive certification, which the Commission states is "intended to serve healthcare providers looking for maximal assurance that the product will meet their complex needs, as well as support their achievement of meaningful use to qualify for financial incentives."

The Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT) is an independent, 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services since 2006 as an official certification body for electronic health records (EHR).

Achieving meaningful EHR use is an essential component in qualifying for the estimated $45 billion in certified EHR adoption incentives provided by the HITECH Act of ARRA. The HITECH Act provides up to $44,000 to eligible professionals under Medicare and $63,750 under Medicaid during respective five and six-year periods beginning in 2011.

"The incentives have the potential to accelerate adoption of EHR technology by office-based physicians and other eligible providers," said Alisa Ray, the Commission's executive director. "Health IT companies demonstrating their compliance with the proposed federal standards can now make available certified products to providers who wish to purchase and implement EHR technology and achieve meaningful use in time for the 2011-2012 incentives. Additionally, EHRs certified in the Comprehensive programs offer providers more assurance that an EHR will meet their needs."

Computerized physician order entry (CPOE), formulary checks, e-prescribing, patient reminders, encounter progress notes, clinical summaries and the ability to provide lab results and surveillance data to public health agencies are some specific examples of meaningful use criteria.

"Greenway is pleased to be among the first to receive CCHIT 2011 Comprehensive certification as well as one of the first EHR products in the marketplace to achieve the highest 5-star usability rating," said Greenway President Tee Green. "Since our inception more than a decade ago, Greenway has been an industry leader in creating the most usable, interoperable and functional EHR in healthcare. We help to ensure the success of our customers by providing not only a certified EHR that can be meaningfully used, but more importantly, by providing an innovative, long-term business plan for practices and customers to optimize their revenue, seamlessly interoperate with their communities, manage their patients more efficiently and participate in the latest clinical trials and research."
