Greenway(R), a proven industry leader in providing integrated ElectronicHealth Records (EHR), practice management and interoperability solutions, hascontinued to be an instrumental advocate of EHR adoption through itsconsistent involvement in governmental policy and procedure.

"Greenway has worked diligently for the past few years educating Congress, the President's administration and state legislatures on how to create HITincentives that encourage physicians to adopt and utilize EHR technology,"said Barnes. "We are pleased to see HIT and EHR solutions such as Greenway'sPrimeSuite(R) significantly benefit the healthcare industry. The technologyis proven to save lives, improve patient care and reduce healthcare costs. Itis estimated that up to 100,000 lives and $160 billion can be saved annuallyin America through widespread implementation of interoperable HIT and EHRs."

"The future of American health care will be greatly influenced by ouruniform adoption and implementation of health information technology. We knowHealth IT can reduce medical errors while saving time, money, and mostimportantly, lives," said Georgia Congressman Phil Gingrey M.D. "As aphysician, I understand both the need for Health IT and the barriers thatexist to implementing its wide-spread use. A single set of standards andcertification criteria is needed to guide healthcare providers in adopting andimplementing health information systems. Piece-meal standards and an absenceof certification criteria will decrease interoperability and stifle thepotential benefits of health information technology systems."
