"I began supporting Lutheran Children and Family Service in 2005, as a donor, and am a firm believer in their mission and purpose," said Pournader.  In the process of learning about LCFS, one of Liberty's affiliate organizations, he discovered that it shared his passion for helping displaced families, at-risk children as well as economic and political refugees.  Pournader himself is a political refugee from Iran whose family immigrated to the United States when he was a child.

During the past year, Pournader has spent time learning more about all of Liberty's operations from Luanne B. Fisher, PhD, President and CEO of Liberty. "Nick's expertise and knowledge of the for-profit world, coupled with his awareness of our organizations vision and subsequent needs, is taking us to the next level of performance and service delivery. Nick has been a blessing to our organization in so many ways-not only because of his business background and connections but also his sensitivity and interest in our clients' well-being."

"I am very impressed by Liberty's strategic plan, management, and culture of service and accountability.  The strategic plan clearly lays out a comprehensive approach to fulfill each objective and has a systematic approach for articulating and reporting the progress and outcomes. The sense of personal accountability and results are engrained in the culture of the organization.  Based on my experience, this is an uncommon accomplishment in the non-profit world."

Known for his skills as a strategic and transformational leader, Pournader views his corporate leadership experience and social activism blending well in a way that will help foster corporate and community awareness of the important work of Liberty.

For over a century, LLS and its affiliates have delivered care and comfort to a growing number of individuals and families—from the earliest stages of life through the advanced stages of aging—by restoring hope, compassion, and choice to those facing life-changing situations.  Each year, Liberty serves over 20,000 individuals through a broad array of faith-based services delivered by a team of world class employees at Artman Lutheran Home, Paul's Run Retirement Community, Liberty at Home, Lutheran Children and Family Service, Lutheran Congregational Services and Mary J. Drexel Home.  For more information about Liberty Lutheran Services and their mission, please visit www.libertylutheran.org.
