The American College of Physician Executives helps physicians develop leadership skills to effectively lead at all levels and sectors of health care. The organization emphasizes that the clinical skills, ethics, and values physicians acquire in traditional medical education can be augmented by leadership training to create uniquely talented physician executives.

"The American College of Physician Executives is well-known for providing the best educational programs that build upon a physician's background in clinical medicine, to enhance it with leadership and management training that enables them to be successful in their practices and organizations."
Dr. Sherry is past president of the Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas medical staff and former chair of the Physician Leadership Council for Texas Health Resources, Presbyterian's member corporation. The council has improved the lines of communications between physicians and hospitals and helped them work better together to co-implement quality-improvement initiatives.
"Physician leadership to me means that doctors take on front-line responsibility for seeing that health care is provided to patients in an ethical, compassionate way," Dr. Sherry said.
As chair of radiology at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas, Dr. Sherry oversees a wide variety of advanced diagnostic imaging technologies, from 64-slice CT scans for heart imaging to advanced MRI techniques for the early diagnosis of breast cancer and brain tumors.
An author of dozens of research articles, abstracts and medical presentations, Dr. Sherry earned her medical degree in 1983 before going to complete the residency and fellowship program in radiology and MRI at Baylor University Medical Center. She completed her master's in Medical Management from Carnegie Mellon University in 2000. She is a fellow of the American College of Radiology and is a member of numerous other professional organizations.
