CAS' New SciFinder(R) Enhances the Research Experience Via the Web

COLUMBUS, Ohio, April 7, 2008 Chemical Abstracts Service(CAS) now offers web access to its award winning SciFinder research tool. CASannounced and demonstrated the new SciFinder version at the American ChemicalSociety National Meeting in New Orleans, April 6, 2008.

"Our customers will find using the new version of SciFinder an importantcomplement to the familiar SciFinder research tool they already rely on," saidChristine McCue, CAS Vice President, Marketing. "The web version is forsituations where web access is preferred and is a convenient option to thepowerful client version which is well-established as 'part of the researchprocess' in corporate, academic and government organizations around theworld."

This new platform is especially designed for the Web and does not simplyduplicate the look and feel of the current SciFinder product, which continuesto be the leading tool for chemistry research. The newest SciFinder experiencewill be offered to an expanding set of commercial, government and academicusers as the product launch proceeds throughout the year.

"The web version of SciFinder is wonderful," said Grace Baysinger, HeadLibrarian and Bibliographer at Swain Library of Chemistry and ChemicalEngineering at Stanford University. "Nothing needs to be downloaded and all ofthe power tools and features are readily visible."

Today, SciFinder is "part of the process" at pharmaceutical, biotech andchemical companies and universities around the world. Scientists use SciFinderto explore research topics, browse scientific journals and stay up-to-date onthe latest scientific developments.
