Arizona Heart Institute Welcomes David J. Caparrelli, Cardiovascular Surgeon

PHOENIX, Oct. 1 The Arizona Heart Institute (AHI) is proudto introduce David J. Caparrelli, MD who recently joined the AHI Division ofCardiovascular Surgery.

A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine inPhiladelphia and former fellow of endovascular surgery at the AHI, Dr.Caparrelli is board certified in general and vascular surgery and has recentlycompleted his cardiac surgery training at Johns Hopkins University School ofMedicine in Baltimore, Maryland. In his final year of training, Dr. Caparrelliwas honored with the C. Walton Lillehei-Earl Bakken Cardiac Surgery ResidentAward presented at the 2008 Society of Thoracic Surgeons Annual meeting. Dr.Caparrelli has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals andauthored several chapters related to cardiovascular medicine. For theseaccomplishments he was awarded the George D. Zuidema Resident Research Awardand the Baltimore Academy of Surgery Resident Research Award.

Dr. Caparrelli has a special interest in the treatment of aortic andbranch vessel pathologies employing both conventional and endovasculartechniques including carotid endarterectomy and stenting, aortic valvereplacement, thoracic endografting, aortic root and arch surgery as well asvalve-sparing root replacement. Dr. Caparrelli is fully committed tocommunity outreach projects and patient education; he will participate inmultiple speaking engagements around the Valley.
