With an eight percent increase in our grants, we hope thesereceiving organizations are able to provide reliable, affordable and effectivecare to Central Texans who are uninsured and underserved."

St. David's Community Health Foundation awards grants to area nonprofitstwice each year. Mental health grants are announced in the spring, whilephysical health grants are announced in December. Since 1996, the Foundationhas approved more than $22 million in funding to community partners promotingaccess to primary health care and related services.
"We work with the recipient agencies year-round to help monitor needs, andwe have been struck by the increase in demand at the area safety net clinics.It is an important time to do all that we can to help address these needs,"said Bobbie Barker, Vice President for Grants and Community Programs.
Close to $1 million awarded for agencies providing services to olderadults
Thirteen organizations providing care to Austin's elderly community willreceive a total of $927,908. One of the grant recipients, Austin Groups forthe Elderly, will use the funding to provide supportive services to enhanceindependent living for older adults, allowing them to live their lives intheir own homes and communities.
Just under $500,000 awarded to special populations
Also receiving funds are programs that support specific health-relatedneeds, such as the Breast Cancer Resource Center, Any Baby Can, and Boys andGirls Club of the Capital Area. Seven nonprofit organizations in thiscategory will receive a total of $451,650.
Grants for safety net clinics reach a total of $3.7 million
Ranging from People's Community Clinic to Lone Star Circle of Care inWilliamson County, primary care and specialty clinics will receive a total of$3,720,607. These safety net clinics provide access to quality health carefor uninsured and underinsured Central Texans.
$50,000 awarded for dental clinic funding
To provide increased oral health care for seniors in Central Texas, Manosde Cristo will receive $25,000. AIDS Services of Austin will also receive$25,000 toward the Jack Sansing Dental Clinic, which provides primary dentaland oral medical care to persons with HIV/AIDS.
