Hijacking Situations and Behaviour Considerations

E 4

Policy Before and Now

Previously, airlines preferred their pilots to be passive and comply with the demands of the hijackers in order to minimize the threat to the passengers, crew and the aircraft, hoping to end the situation peacefully. After 9/11,all airlines reviewed their policy in this matter.. Pilots are now armed and the cockpit is secured from unwanted entry and Air marshals have been added to each flight.

Screening for weapons at the entry level and restriction to carry any item that can be used as a possible weapon on board are enforced strictly.
