Glossary

Dermabrasion: Removal of the surface layer of skin with a sanding wheel to treat scarring or to remove tattoos

Incision: A cut made in the body during surgery

Hypertrophic: Enlarged in size, rather than in the number of components

Anesthesia: Loss of feeling or sensation resulting from the administration of certain drugs or gases

Keloid: Abnormal accumulation of scar tissue after surgery or injury

Contracture: Permanent tightness or shortening of a muscle
