Bruxism Causing Toothache

Bruxism - Grinding your teeth in sleep

Many people experience pain in the teeth upon rising in the morning or after an afternoon nap. Often the partner or any other person sleeping next to them mentions this to the patient. Bruxism can cause constant trauma to the teeth and can lead to problems if left untreated. Another common habit seen amongst people is clenching their teeth really hard when they are angry, tense or emotionally upset. This also leads to trauma to the teeth and the surrounding tooth structures and cause damage or injury to the tooth.

Treatment of Bruxism

Use of night guards is commonly recommended in most cases.

Root canal treatment of the traumatised tooth may need to be undertaken in few cases.

Other treatments might be prescribed once the habit is controlled.
