What is Lambert-eaton Syndrome ?  

Lambert-eaton Syndrome is a rare autoimmune disorder involving the muscles of the limbs. The muscles become weak due to problems in the neuromuscular junctions.


Cause(s) :  
  • Lambert-Eaton syndrome is often associated with lung cancer.
Symptoms :  
  • Limb muscles closest to the trunk become weak, difficulty in climbing stairs and raising from sitting position.
  • Weakness of mouth and throat muscles
  • Weakness of eye muscles - double vision, drooping of eyelids, swallowing difficulty
Disruption of the autonomic nervous system:
  • Dry mouth
  • Constipation
  • Blurred vision
  • Impaired sweating
  • Drop in blood pressure on standing
Diagnosis and Tests :  
  • EMG
  • CT
  • PET
