a)Clinical Evaluation

Clinical evaluation of a person suffering from Sleepwalking should include:

  • An interview with the patient and the bed partner
  • Review of medical records
  • Details regarding sleep-wake patterns
  • Medical history
  • Psychiatric history
  • Alcohol and drug-use/abuse history
  • Family history
  • Past or current history of physical, sexual, and emotional abuse
  • Psychiatric and neurological examinations.

Polysomnography (OR) sleep test

The sleep study center is equipped to carry out the Polysomnography (OR) sleep test. The patient is evaluated against certain parameters which are continuously recorded during the sleep phase.

The electrical functions of the brain, heart, muscles and movements of the eye are recorded along with audio- visual monitoring to tabulate the nature of physical movements during all stages of sleep.

c)Multiple Sleep Latency Test

When excessive daytime sleepiness or fatigue is present or suspected in addition to Sleepwalking then MSLT is carried out.
