Sleep Eating Disorders - Research and Future

Sleep Eating Disorders - Research & Future

People with Nocturnal Sleep-Related Eating Disorder (NS-RED) are an anxious lot, as they have no control over their eating habits.

Nocturnal Sleep-Related Eating Disorder (NS-RED) is another example of episodic Parasomnias. They have a clear and a dramatic behavioral picture and obscure patho- physiology. The over activity of the hypothalamic pituitary adrenal axis causing an exaggerated and a 'shifted in time' compulsive eating behavior during the transitional sleep states needs to be studied.

More research is needed to understand why transitional stages of consciousness lead to compulsive eating habits and to find methods to restore normal sleep - wake cycles and good eating habits.
