Sleep Eating Disorders - Incidence

Sleep Eating Disorders - Incidence

Exact numbers of people suffering Sleep-eating disorders is still unclear, though a ball park figure places the numbers anywhere between 1 to 3 percent of population.

Although it can affect anyone from any age group, it seems to affect younger women more than others. Generally symptoms begin to manifest when victims are in their late 20s. The problem may appear once or twice and then disappear or may become chronic. Episodes may recur usually precipitated by a stressful situation.

Many Parasomnias seem to run in families, which may indicate that sleep eating is genetically linked.
