Prognosis

The prognosis for narcolepsy depends on educating a person about the illness and making them understand how to cope with it. Coping with the illness becomes easier once the person realizes that relief from symptoms may be achieved with the help of drugs and behavioral therapy.

Effective life style modifications and strict sleep hygiene measures, coupled with drug therapy, can help a narcoleptic achieve normal state of alertness. For controlling the symptoms effectively the drug therapy needs to be modified according to the changing symptoms and its severity.

I heard this condition might be linked to the H1N1 vaccine, we believe my 12 year old daughter has it and it was right after she had the vaccine.
