Glossary

Mitral valve: It is a heart valve between the left atrium & left ventricle. It prevents the backflow of blood from left ventricle to left atrium.

Tricuspid valve: It is a heart valve between right atrium & right ventricle. It has three leaflets.

Aortic valve: Valve that prevents the backflow of blood from aorta to left ventricle

Regurgitation: Backflow of blood. For eg, mitral regurgitation means backflow of blood from left ventricle to left atrium

Gait: A manner of walking

ESR: Erythrocyte sedimentation rate, a test that indicates presence of inflammation in the body

ECG: A test that records the electrical activity of the heart
