Glossary

Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors: Medications used for treatment of hypertension and congestive heart failure.

Angiotensin receptor blockers: Medications used to block angiotensin II action by preventing angiotensin II from binding to the angiotensin II receptors on blood vessels. This dilates the blood vessels and reduces blood pressure.

Beta-blockers: Medications used to treat high blood pressure.

Calcium-channel blockers: Medications that reduce electrical conduction in the heart and dilate arteries. This reduces blood pressure.
