Complications of Pneumoconiosis include -

Silicosis

  • Tuberculosis in almost 25% patients
  • Pulmonary massive fibrosis
  • Autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis and scleroderma
  • Lung cancer
  • Death especially in acute and accelerated silicosis

Coal worker’s pneumoconiosis

  • Pulmonary massive fibrosis
  • Digestive system cancers. However, it does not increase the incidence of lung cancer

Asbestosis

  • Pulmonary massive fibrosis
