Glossary

Hypogonadism: Condition that is more common in males in which production of sex hormones by the germ cells is inadequate.

Hyperthyroidism: Excessive production of thyroid hormone by an overactive thyroid gland.

Cirrhosis: A type of chronic, progressive liver disease.

Mammograms: An image of breast commonly done to check for breast cancer.

Computerized tomography (CT): An X-ray technique that produces cross-sectional images of tissue structures through the body.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI): A painless method using magnetic fields for taking pictures of internal organs.
