Frequently Asked Questions1. Which doctor does an Isotope study of an organ like - heart, lungs, thyroid, liver, kidney or brain?
This procedure is done by a qualified radiologist in the field.
2. Is there any special preparation required prior to undergoing testing with gamma cameras?
No, there are no special requirements or diet restrictions prior to testing. At the most you will need to change into a gown and remove any jewelry or accessories prior to testing. If there are any special instructions your health care provider will inform you.
After the radioisotopes are administered to you, you will need to undergo the scan in ten minutes or even a few hours later. The scan itself will last for about half an hour, during which you will need to lie still on your back.
