Q: What should one expect after Eyelid surgery?

A: Swelling usually remains for 2-3 days. The wound usually heals within a week. There may be slight pain and discomfort for the first week which disappears after the wound heals. There may also be some foreign body sensation in the eye for a few days.

A: Usually the muscle beneath the skin of the upper or lower eyelid rhythmically and uncontrollably contracts & relaxes causing the eye to twitch.

It is usually due to local eye irritation such as dry eye and blepharitis, which needs to be diagnosed and treated accordingly. Fatigue, stress, and lack of sleep are other known causes. Stimulants such as caffeine can also lead to twitching. Correction of the refractive error also helps at times.
