Diagnosis of Ebola Virus Disease
Diagnosis of Ebola has to be quick. Isolation of the Ebola virus confirms the infection.
Doctors may first need to rule out other diseases that present with similar initial symptoms such as meningitis, hepatitis, malaria and typhoid fever. The symptoms of Ebola disease are also similar to those of Marburg virus disease.
Infection by the Ebola virus can be confirmed with the following tests:
- Blood counts and ELISA test
- Blood clotting tests or Coagulation studies

- Liver function tests
- Risk of exposure to the Ebola virus
- Isolation of the Ebola virus
