Treatment for Colorectal Cancers may involve surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy or biological therapy. Some people require a combination of treatments.
Treatment of colorectal cancers is clearly related to the degree of penetration of the tumor through the bowel wall, the presence or absence of nodal involvement, and the presence or absence of distant metastases. These three characteristics form the basis for all staging systems developed for this disease. Different types of treatment are available for patients with colon cancer.
The 4 main types of treatment for colorectal cancer are the following:
- Surgical Treatment
