Cavernous Malformation - Glossary

Endothelium: Inner layer of blood vessels.

Hemorrhage: This is a condition of excessive bleeding resulting from damage to the blood vessels.

Mutations: Any change in the DNA of a cell. Mutations may be caused by mistakes during cell division, or they may be caused by exposure to DNA-damaging agents in the environment. Mutations can be harmful, beneficial, or have no effect.

Congenital: A term used to describe a condition or trait that is present since birth.
