About Radiation
Radiation is nothing but a transfer of energy either in the form of waves or particles, though free space or through a medium. Light, heat and sound are all examples of radiation.
Different forms of radiation exist and each of these has certain unique characteristics. X-rays belong to the category of electromagnetic radiation. Radio waves used in radio and television communication system, Microwave used for cooking purposes, visible light that helps in vision, ultraviolet used for disinfection and sterilization purpose and infrared rays used for heating all belong to the category of electromagnetic radiation.
